The Parent Report is a way to communicate a student's progress with parents.

 

Use the Parent Report to share parent-friendly updates about studentstudents' s progress on different reading metrics from their most recent assessment , as well as and actionable tips for parents to use at home. 

The Parent Report can be used to enable productive conversations between teachers and families in order to build , building a tighter connection between the student's work at home and in the classroom.

  1. From the Teacher Portal, click Reports in the upper right section of the screen.

Using the Parent Report

The Parent Report provides a current overview of overviews a student's assessment scores and Reading Rope percentile rankings. It now features detailed explanations and illustrations for easy understanding , along with and practical reading tips for parents to support their child's reading development at home.

1. Arm Scores

Reading Assistant now displays the ARM score for the most recent assessment in each assessment window. 
There is also a detailed explanation of the ARM score and how to interpret it.

Each dot on the graph represents one assessment or practice session along with the corresponding score. Student performance can be tracked by paying careful attention to carefully examining which dots represent and the assessment (controlled and timed) and Practice/Tutor (fluid and flexible).

  • Reading Assistant Reading Mastery (ARM): This is a norm-referenced score that allows you to tell at a glance how a student is doing. The score is expressed in relation to grade level and month of instruction. A score of 3.1 indicates a student is reading at what would be considered “on level” for a Third grader in the first month of instruction. 

  • Oral Reading Fluency (ORF): A student’s ability to read aloud smoothly or with a natural easenaturally.

 

 

4. Toggling the Language

Use this feature when a student has been assessed in Spanish or both Spanish and English to toggle between assessment data for each language.

 

5. Printing Configuration

Teachers can now configure whether they want the assessment subscores and Parent Tips to print as part of the parent report. When Printing with both tips and subscores turned on each report will be two pages and appear like the below.

6. Print Language

Use the Print language selector Language Selector to choose what language you would like to print a report in. 
Teachers can now choose to print the English report in Spanish and vice versa.
 

7. Printing or Saving the Parent Report as a PDF

  1. Click on Batch Print in on the right-hand side of the window. (this will generate the batch and may take a few minutes)

  2. Choose your printer or Save as a PDF from the Destination drop-down

  3. Click Save or Print, depending on the previous selection.
