Edge should ask permission to access the microphone the first time you use Reading Assistant. You should only need to give Reading Assistant permission once. When you launch Reading Assistant through HMH Ed, she will prompt students to allow access. They will see the following message at the top left-hand corner of your browser window: Click Allow

If you begin using Reading Assistant and get an alert about enabling your microphone at the beginning of a session about enabling your microphone, simply refresh your browser, and Edge will ask for permission again. If you are not prompted to allow access to a microphone, you may need to adjust your operating system settings to recognize it. See instructions in the next section.
