    How to Assign Lessons Using SPIRE

    This article provides a step-by-step guide on effectively assigning lessons within the SPIRE platform. It enables educators to ensure that their students receive the appropriate resources and instructions for their educational activities.

    In this guide, you will learn how to:

    1. Select a class to assign a lesson

    2. Access the library and choose the appropriate lesson

    3. Assign the lesson to your students

     

    Selecting a Class

    1. Navigate to Your Dashboard: Start by navigating to your main dashboard in the SPIRE platform.

    2. Locate Your Classes: Find the classes you manage on your dashboard.

    3. Choose a Class: Select the class you want to assign a lesson to.

     

    Accessing the Library and Choosing a Lesson

    1. Open the Library: Click on the blue plus button next to the 'Experiences' label on your dashboard to access the library, where you can find various lessons and materials.

    2. Select the Appropriate Level and Lesson: Based on the results of your students' latest placement tests, browse the library to find the appropriate level and lesson for the selected class.

    3. Choose the Lesson Type: Based on your student’s needs, decide whether the lesson should be introductory or reinforcing. Preview the lesson details by clicking on them to ensure they fit your class's current educational stage.

     

    Assigning the Lesson

    1. Assign the Lesson: After confirming the lesson is appropriate, click the 'Assign' button. Adjust the default end time from two hours later on the same day to a more suitable duration based on your educational schedule.

    2. Select Students: On the next screen, select which students you want to include in this assignment. You can assign it to the entire class or remove students who may not participate (e.g., students not in school that week).

    3. Finalize Assignment: Confirm the assignment by clicking the final 'Assign' button. This action will schedule the lesson for the selected students.

     

    Accessing and Starting the Lesson

    1. Locate the Assigned Lesson: Once assigned, the lesson will appear on your home screen under 'Active Experiences.' From there, you can enter the lesson module and begin teaching.

    2. Start Teaching: Begin the lesson by engaging the students and the materials. The lesson is now fully integrated into your teaching schedule, and you can commence instructional activities as planned.
