Are you excited to get started? Reading Assistant is ready for you! Let's start with these few steps to get going.

First up - Logging In

  1. Log in the same way you do at school! Either through your district's website, directly through Clever or Classlink, or by going to HMH Ed (https://www.hmhco.com/ui/login/ )❗Note: If you go to school outside of the United States or are reading during an after-school program, log in by going to https://www.Reading Assistanttutor.amiratutor.com/, and typing in your username and password

 

  1. Make Sure the Microphone Works

If logging into Reading Assistant for the first time, you will get Reading Assistant’s ready Module. Reading Assistant may ask you to allow the microphone

  1. Click/Tap Let’s do it

  1. Choose What to Do

  2. Click/Tap Read a story to read a Practice story

  3. If reading a Practice story for the first time, Reading Assistant will begin the story after clicking/tapping Read a story

  1. If not reading a Practice story for the first time, Reading Assistant will give you choices for which story you would like to read

  2. Click/Tap the story of your choice

  1. Reading Assistant will ask you to wake up Spot to make sure that your microphone is working. 

  2. Reading Assistant will explain the directions for taking the test/assessment and/or reading the story. She will encourage you to do your best! She will also remind you to speak clearly into your microphone, to sound out unknown words, and to skip words, if needed

  3. Reading Assistant will count down by saying Ready, Set, Start!

  4. Then, you will do your best while reading what Reading Assistant shows on your computer

When reading a story, boxes will show on the bottom of the screen to let you know how many story pages have been completed

Keep reading until you are either finished with the whole story or until Reading Assistant let's you know that you do not need to read anymore


 

When you have finished reading, Reading Assistant will say, 'Thank you,' and you will see a message on the screen saying, “Great Work!” The message is for all the great work you did.
