Reading Assistant How does Reading Assistant help During Practice
How does Reading Assistant help during Practice?
During Practice sessions, Reading Assistant constantly adjusts both the kind of interventions provided and the timing before intervention. Reading Assistant adjusts her feedback based on the type and frequency of student errors. Reading Assistant follows the best practice of allowing 3+ seconds for productive struggle. The mean time before Reading Assistant jumps in is approximately 6 seconds. This personalized tutoring is a key component of the Reading Assistant Practice model, minimizing student frustration and maximizing motivation.
Reading Assistant delivers personalized coaching to readers -- the proper intervention on the right word at the right time. These are called micro-interventions. As a student reads, Reading Assistant provides enough support to encourage “productive struggle.”
