Starting a Lesson

Preparation

  • Ensure all participants are logged into their accounts here: Exploros.

  • Navigate to the assigned Introductory Lesson. Refer to the "Getting Started with iSPIRE" section for details on account setup and lesson assignment.

 

Dashboard Overview

  • Dashboard: View class lists and monitor student progress.

  • Activity: Access detailed teacher directions for each lesson step.

  • Pack: Find assessment guidelines, vocabulary development tools, alternate dictation for older students, and more.

 

Lesson Control

  • You can use the Gray Arrow to exit a lesson at any point. This also redirects students to their home screen.

 

Conducting an iSPIRE 10-Step Lesson

Lesson Structure

  • Every iSPIRE Introductory and Reinforcing Lesson consists of 10 steps, further divided into Scenes for detailed navigation.

  • Initiate the lesson by clicking the "Activity" icon, which leads to Scene 1. This will signal students to pay attention with a visual cue.

 

Steps Overview

  1. Phonogram Cards: Use phonogram cards for drilling sounds. Instructions are expandable for detailed guidance.

  2. Phonological Awareness: Focus on auditory skills with activities in "Eyes on Teacher Mode.” Higher levels introduce Segmentation.

  3. Word Building: Engage students with manipulative letter tiles in a separate tab to foster word construction skills.

  4. Decoding and Sentence Reading: Blend decoding activities with sentence reading for comprehensive understanding.

    • Utilize the Word Markup Tool Bar for interactive learning: Pencil, Eraser, Line, Square, Circle, Stroke, and Stamp.


Steps 5-10 encompass Pre-Reading, Reading, Sound Dictation, Pre-Spelling, Spelling, and Sentence Dictation. Each has specific objectives and instructional strategies, promoting a balanced and thorough learning process.


Independent Work and Assessment

Post-Lesson Activities

  • Assign Independent Work corresponding to the completed lesson for reinforced learning and assessment.

  • Administer the Concept Mastery Fluency Drill or Concept Assessment as appropriate, following the directions provided in the teacher's instructions.

 

Placement Test

  • Utilize the Placement Test to ascertain the appropriate starting point for each student within the iSPIRE program.

  • Available in both digital and print formats for versatile administration.

 

Tracking and Reporting

  • Access comprehensive class-level and student-level reports to monitor progress and assess performance across various assessments.
